| Description: | This position is primarily a desk clerk or information clerk type of job. It is specifically to provide excellent customer service to the traveling public by providing brochures, promotional items and travel information. The position is designed to assist the traveling public with obtaining information related to travel and tourism primarily within the State of North Carolina and including out-of-state, several major destinations. |
| Duties: | • Greet visitors in a friendly hospitable manner
• Answer questions about North Carolina, statewide attractions and events
• Provide maps, literature, information and promotional items to travelers
• Answer telephones and e-mails using proper etiquette and courtesy
• Retrieve lodging, restaurant, and attraction information from the internet
• Assist travelers in making lodging and restaurant reservations
• Replenish and organize brochure display areas
• Assist with setting-up and tearing down displays
• Encourage visitors to sign a guest register
• Record data collected on travelers – daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually
• Report complaints, problems, issues to the lead and the resolution provided
• Maintain a neat, clean, family-friendly facility – dusting sweeping and other daily housekeeping duties
• Keep staff areas and storage areas neat, clean and free from obstructions
• Any other duties as assigned

| Qualifications: | Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• Ability to read a map and give directions
• Ability to work with a computer and use the internet search engines
• Organizational Skills for filing and data collection
• Excellent communication skills including but limited to telephone and e-mail skills using proper etiquette
Preferred Skills:
• Bi-lingual preferably Spanish
• Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Worked in the travel and tourism industry
• Associate or Bachelor degree preferred
